Week #375

Another week is over and with it the first half of 2012 is history. Damn it, that was too fast! I’m happy the summer is here with its sunny, bright nights (an incredible spectacle here in Iceland) but last 6 months have gone without noticing.

Alberto has been very productive this week:

  • new features in the steel marketplace we launched a few weeks ago,

  • more coding in our still-in-development projects Bazaar & Plankio and even

  • some small updates in Qstion preparing the transfer to its new owner.

Me? I’ve splitted my week in three main areas:

  • Polishing the last details for putting Stage’s new payment processing system in production. As we’ve said in previous, with this rewriting we’re not only adding our own payment gateway to the mix of options our customers have, but paying a not insignificant amount of technical debt accumulated through our first years.

  • Verkami and its continued great success (more than 100 projects in progress and an incredible +74% success rate) requires attention and maintenance.

  • Progress in the design of a few administration areas in Bazaar.

My recommendation for this weekend: Pictures and vision, an interesting short article by Robin Sloan on how centric visual devices (pictures, vision, etc.) are to Google and Facebook. And if you don’t know who is Robin Sloan this is your lucky day. You shoul start downloading Fish, a tap essay about the difference between liking and loving on the internet but anything on his notes is worth reading.

Have a nice weekend.
